First day in Hermanus

Well...I've finally arrived! Several things I learned along my journey -- they spray down African flights with this sanitizer that smells like a cheap air freshener and stop lights in Africa are called robots. The server on our flight didn't want to serve me wine with dinner because he thought I was 14. Note to self, never leave home without makeup. My luggage got lost in route -- still no sign of it. It's supposed to be here by tomorrow. Let's hope it arrives!

This morning I woke up with the song African (I think by the 80's band Toto) in my head. Been humming it all day because I don't really know all the words. All I know is that they say something about "down in Africa."

Aunt Kathy and I kayaked for six hours today. It was great to be outside and to be active. Lot's of sun and WARM weather here. Hopefully I'll come home with a tan.

I don't have a chance to get pictures up tonight, but I'll try to post some soon. It is beautiful here. Going shopping tomorrow -- some things never change!

Drop me a note when you can,
Kathryn
